GO-AHEAD has been given for the conversion of a Galashiels bakery into a pottery workshop.
The application to Scottish Borders Council (SBC) from Earlston-based Sue Barclay was for the change of use of units 9 And 10 at Tweedbank Craft Centre.
A submission with the application said: “It would be a pottery workshop to make my own pottery.
“Additionally to offer classes to those who can afford to pay, in order to subsidise classes for local community groups such as learning disabilities and mental health support groups.”
A report approving the application, from SBC’s lead planning officer Carlos Clarke, says: “On the basis the classes would be related to the pottery operation only, the proposal is acceptable.
“A condition can cover this and, in doing so, can elaborate on the application description itself to ensure that the ability to provide classes is clearly consented.”
