BOOZE will be on the menu at a thriving town coffee shop and eatery as an expansion bid was rubber-stamped.

Members of Scottish Borders Council’s Licensing Board has granted a provisional premises licence for The Cream Chimneys in Kelso town square.

The premises is to operate as a coffee shop until 5pm after which time it would become a bistro in the evening.

The applicant said: “The focus will still be on food but we hope to adapt this over a weekend basis to start with, it might not be something we do through the week as well, with the bistro serving some nice wines and local beers with our food."

“This will add something better for local people and visitors. I’m very happy to support it,” said Kelso & District councillor Tom Weatherston.

The licensed hours will be on-sale from 11am to midnight and off-site 11am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday.
