A 30-YEAR-OLD man sent a video of himself having sexual intercourse with a woman to other people, Selkirk Sheriff Court has been told.

Michael McLennan admitted sharing a video of the woman in an intimate position without her consent and causing her distress.

The incident happened at an unknown location on April 21 last year.

McLennan, formerly of Galashiels and now living in Auchinleck, Ayrshire, also pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of a non-harassment order by attempting to contact the woman a week before distributing the video.

Defence lawyer Liam Alexander said his client accepted it had been “appalling behaviour”.

Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a community payback order with supervision and a conduct requirement banning him from distributing any image of the woman.

He was ordered to attend the Caledonian Men’s Programme for two years and was also placed on a night-time home curfew between the hours of 7pm and 7am for the next 10 months.

McLennan was also ordered to have no contact with the woman for the next five years as part of a non-harassment order.
