A MAN has been charged in connection with an incident in which two pedestrians were injured by a car, according to police.

A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment while a 50-year-old woman was treated at the scene in the Hall Street area of Galashiels on Thursday (June 13).

Officers traced the car after it allegedly failed to stop following the crash.

A 42-year-old man is expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Friday) in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.40pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024, police received a report of two pedestrians being injured by a BMW car in the Hall Street area of Galashiels.

“A 47-year-old male pedestrian was conveyed to hospital for treatment, whilst the 50-year-old female pedestrian was treated at the scene.

“The car failed to stop at the scene and was later traced by officers. A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. 

“He is expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, June 14, 2024.”
