TWO tipper trucks are believed to have been stolen during a break-in at a depot in the Borders.

Police said that machinery and ‘high-value’ gardening equipment were also taken from the premises in Lower Mansfield Road, Hawick.

The cost of the theft and damage is estimated to be worth more than £100,000, according to officers.

The housebreaking and theft is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Wednesday (June 19).

Police said that at around 6.10am a staff member arrived at the depot and found it had been broken into.

Detective Constable Callum Wood said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and we are appealing for the local community to pass on any information which could help our investigation.

“We would particularly urge anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to please check in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.
