A CARE at home service based in Galashiels always provides a ‘happy atmosphere’, an inspector has been informed.
Hanover Care at Home Service is based at Glenfield Court in the town.
It is registered to to provide care to people over the age of 60 living in their own homes and in sheltered housing in the community.
A representative of the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to the service on June 10 and 11.
At the time of the inspection it was providing support to 33 tenants of Hanover Housing in Galashiels, Jedburgh and Innerleithen.
The key findings were that people were supported by staff who knew them and who delivered compassionate care.
Managers were found to be accessible to both staff and those using the service and that views were listened to.
It was deemed that effective medication audits need to be put in place to ensure people experience safe and effective medication administration.
The service was rated ‘very good’ for its staff team and ‘good’ for supporting people’s well-being.
The report states: “People told us that they had no complaints about the staff. One person stated, ‘The staff are so nice and helpful, it’s always a happy atmosphere’.”
