A BORDERS politician has been appointed to former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's shadow cabinet.
John Lamont MP, who was returned as the Conservative MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk at last week's general election, has been named as Mr Sunak's Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland.
On his appointment, Mr Lamont shared on X (formerly Twitter): "Delighted to have been appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland.
"I will hold the UK Government to account and work closely with my @ScotTories [Scottish Conservatives] colleagues in Holyrood as they hold the SNP to account. Together, we will stand up for the people of Scotland."
