A NEW novel has been written about Sir Walter Scott's "favourite comedian".
Author Helen Graham is visiting the Borders this week for two events related to her new book, The Real Mackay, which is about her ancestor Charles Mackay who was Sir Walter Scott's favourite comedian.
As part of her Borders visit on Thursday (July 11) Helen will first head to Abbotsford, Sir Walter's home beside the Tweed, where house and collections officers Claudia Bolling will show her a portrait of Charles which is kept at the property.
The portrait features on the back cover of Helen's novel.
Then on Thursday evening she will make her way to the Wedale Bookshop in Stow for her talk on The Real Mackay.
She will also be signing copies of her book.
Tickets to Helen's event at the Wedale Bookshop are free, however, it is essential to book a ticket due to limited space.
For tickets to the talk on Thursday, July 11 from 7-9pm, visit: wedalebooks.scot/events
