EARLSTON Civic Week returned with a bang as it celebrates its 52nd anniversary.

And, as always, all the events last week were enjoyed by all.

Seeing in the start of July in style, Civic Week offered events day and night to cater to all ages and interests.

During the week there were the popular football tournaments organised by Earlston Rhymers youth and adult football clubs.

And a highlight was the fancy dress competition.

A Civic Week spokesperson said: “Last year seen the introduction of our dog show and the committee were delighted with how well received it was again this year. It was a lovely evening with some very impressive entries.

“Each year we plan an afternoon of entertainment for the children in the village.

“On Wednesday (July 3) we were joined by Magic Muddles.

“He had the children mesmerised with his magic tricks and games.

“It was a real treat to see the future of Earlston Civic Week enjoying themselves in the marquee.

“Not forgetting Pirates Bouncing Bingo – our chairman, Steven, pulled off another jumping night of entertainment with some big wins too.

“The week came to an end with our fancy dress parade which as always, was fantastically supported.

“Each year we continue to be blown away by the effort our community put in to their costumes and this year was no different.

“A great mix of ideas and ages makes our fancy dress one of the best in the Borders.

“All in all, a great week was had by all and the committee are already looking forward to planning Earlston Civic Week 2025.”
