GOLFERS will be given shelter from the storm if a planning bid submitted to Scottish Borders Council is agreed.
Expansion is on the fairway with plans to alter and extend the clubhouse at the Schloss Roxburghe Golf Course Clubhouse in Heiton.
The Schloss Roxburghe Hotel, formerly known as Sunlaws House, is a Category B Listed Scottish Jacobean mansion house.
The clubhouse is located to the west of the main hotel building.
The proposed extension is to satisfy the growing needs of the hotel following recent major expansion projects.
The aim is to demolish an existing canopy to make way for a larger enclosed steel and glass structure in its place to the west face of the clubhouse.
A report with the application states: “The main purpose of the extension is to provide a larger lounge area shielded from the elements, where golfers and guests can rest and enjoy refreshment in a much more spacious and comfortable setting.
“Materially it consists of a steel structure with large glass infill panels creating a sharp contrast with the vernacular building form and material of the existing clubhouse.
“Whilst the extension is larger in footprint, functionally it stays subservient to the main clubhouse. And the height of the new extension does not exceed the current canopy.”
The planning bid also includes a proposed new bin store located to the south of the hotel extension, in close proximity to the current plant room.
