A BORDERS play park has reopened following 'significant investment' into the site.

Woodstock Avenue Play Park had £80,000 invested into it to fund new equipment for the Galashiels play area.

Part of Scottish Borders Council's (SBC) plan to spend £5 million between 2022 and 2029 to enhance play facilities, Woodstock Avenue is the latest play area to be refurbished by the council.

The multi-million play area commitment aims to improve the play parks for current youngsters and future generations to provide "meaningful play opportunities for all children and young people".

The refurbished park is accessible for all and has a variety of play equipment, including:

  • Miniature train and carriage
  • Basket swing
  • Rope bridge
  • See-saw
  • Carousel
  • Track Ride Tower (similar to a zip-wire)

The equipment is suitable for children of all ages and also includes equipment which is inclusive for all.

The new additions to the playground are made from natural building materials such as Robinia wood, which comes from sustainable forestry and is a durable hardwood which has UV resistance.
