PEOPLE are invited to take a walk on the wild side as a Borders artist is set to showcase her work at a local exhibition.
Paula Rowan is a self-taught artist who was brought up in Newcastleton.
Her exhibition, The Wild Side, will be on display at the Borders Textile Towerhouse in Hawick from August 3 to October 26.
The exhibition shows how Paula's art has developed over the years, and focuses on her love of all things "fluffy and fabulous".
She said: "I hope that my love of animals and nature shines through with each piece of work."
Paula had a passion for drawing from a young age but decided to put her artistic talents to the side while she trained as a nurse.
It wasn't until after the birth of her sons that Paula decided to take up drawing again.
And what started as creating art for her own enjoyment soon developed into Paula Rowan Art.
Paula believes that art can be an "escape from the stresses of day-to-day life".
She added: "I can get lost in my of creativity for hours at a time."
Paula's work uses layers of acrylics to create depth, texture and movement.
She also uses pastels to soften features of her creations, and adds embellishments of gold leaf to highlight each animal's "unique character and sparkle of life".
The Wild Side can be found at the Borders Textile Towerhouse, 1 Tower Knowe, Hawick from Saturday, August 3 to Saturday, October 26.
The exhibition is free to access, however, donations are welcome.
The Textile Towerhouse is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and is closed on Sundays.
