A NEW exhibition has opened at a Borders museum.

'Threads' is an exhibition by the Society of Scottish Artists which has gone on display at Old Gala House.

The exhibition features works from some of the Society's members including some from invited artist Denise Zygadlo.

Emerging artists are given the opportunity to showcase their works at the exhibition alongside established professionals.

Phoebe Stewart, assistant curator for Live Borders Museums and Galleries, said: “The skill and passion of the artists is reflected in the high quality of work on display.

"I am sure that visitors will be able to enjoy so many unique works from the wonderful variety of art in this exhibition.

"This is a show where you will find a tremendous diversity of style, and media on display.”

Threads is a metaphor for the interconnectedness of ideas, cultures and emotions which form "the rich tapestry of our lives".

The Great Tapestry of Scotland serves as a significant source of inspiration of the exhibition at Old Gala House.

With more than 1,500 member, the Society of Scottish Artists is one of the largest and oldest artist-led organisations in Scotland.

Threads is now open and will run until Monday, September 30.

Old Gala House is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

The exhibition was organised by Live Borders Museums and Galleries and was curated by Rebekka Tolley and Gill Walton from the Society of Scottish Artists.
