INNERLEITHEN has been buzzing with excitement as the annual St Ronan's Border Games
Before the official Games Week began, Lyle Caine, chairman of the St Ronan’s Ex-Standard Bearers’ Association, presented Standard Bearer-elect Rory Murray and his Lass-elect Emily Anderson with their flashes.
On the afternoon of Saturday, July 13, Victoria Park hosted the five-a-side football tournament which saw 'Murder on Zidane's Floor' take home the trophy.
Principals from West Linton, Peebles, Galashiels, and Penicuik joined the celebrations at the Standard Bearer's Ball in the Games Week marquee at St Ronan's Primary School.
Sunday (July 14) saw the return of the Kirkin’ Parade and Service at Innerleithen Parish Church.
Antoni Janus became the 25th Dux Boy and representative of St Ronan to raise the community flag at the Memorial Hall.
The flag will fly for the duration of Games Week, with the exception of Friday evening when it will be raised at St Ronan’s Wells to allow for the Union Flag to fly at the Memorial Hall for the ‘For the Fallen’ service.
On Sunday afternoon crowds returned to the High Street for an hour of musical entertainment from Innerleithen Pipe Band and St Ronan’s Silver Band.
Blessed with a bright and dry Sunday afternoon, the Pipe Band and Silver Band played a number of local and Scottish favourites.
Everyone then fell in behind the bands and marched to Victoria Park for the Children’s Sports and Treat.
As well as the range of sporting activities on offer, locals of all ages enjoyed the face painting, inflatables and music, provided by Pirn Righs.
On Tuesday, July 16 there was the Over 60s Party Night at the Memorial Hall, and on Wednesday, July 17 there is the Quiz Night at the 856 Social Club at 8pm.
The Fancy Dress Parade returned on Thursday, July 18 at Victoria Park and on Friday evening the Cleikum Ceremonies took place.
The big day arrives today (Saturday, July 20) with Games Day.
