SCOTTISH Borders Council has issued an apology after a breakdown of its glass contractor’s collection vehicle.
As a result of the breakdown there will be disruption to scheduled bottle bank collections across the Borders until the local authority can make alternative arrangements for glass recycling.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: “In the meantime, if the bottle banks are full and no alternative glass bins are on site we would ask residents to keep their glass bottles with them and return at another time to recycle them.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will provide further updates in due course once the issue has been resolved.
“As a temporary measure, red skips have been placed at the main glass recycling sites in Peebles for residents to use as we work through this issue.”
