PLANS have been revealed for the major expansion of a Borders caravan park.
A planning application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council to site 36 new static caravans on land south-west of Springwood Caravan Park at Springwood Village in Kelso.
The applicant is Cove UK, who are also the owners of Argyll Holidays, an award-winning brand of Scottish holiday parks which are focused around the Borders, Argyll & Bute and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park areas.
The new caravans are proposed on an adjacent farmer’s field located beside the existing caravan park.
A report with the application states: “The proposal is to station up to 36 static caravans for holiday purposes within the application site.
“The primary use would not change, and it would be a ‘caravan site’ with the proposals. There are no changes as to how the caravans would be used on this part of the caravan site – i.e. they would be used in the same manner as other caravans within the existing holiday park.
“The applicant's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency ensures that the new caravan site will harmonise with the natural environment while providing a comfortable and responsible experience for visitors.
“The applicant is more than happy to work with the local planning authority’s tree officer to agree all necessary or appropriate method statements and protection measures to further reassure the council of their intentions regarding the retention of the trees. Any early engagement with the tree officer would be welcomed.”
