A KELSO-BASED fishing museum has netted a funding boost.

When members of Scottish Borders Council’s Cheviot Area Partnership met on Wednesday (July 31) they considered an application for £5,000 from River Tweed Salmon Fishing Museum.

The funding is needed to assist with the renovation and continued operation of the museum.

This includes updating of signage and displays, the making of publicity films, installation of CCTV and the servicing of TV displays.

The museum explores the history of salmon fishing over 8,000 years and allows visitors to discover the story of its birth and development as a worldwide sport on the River Tweed.

The Partnership agreed reduced funding of £4,176 for for signage, story boards and other items.
