A BORDERS camera club is holding its first exhibition in more than 50 years.

The exhibition, which started on Monday and runs until Saturday in The Little Art Hub, 17 Channel Street, Galashiels, showcases a selection of work from Galashiels Camera Club (GCC) members.

The summer exhibition features 30 diverse images. Notably, some photographs on display were captured using smartphones.

Ford Renton, Galashiels Camera Club chairperson, said: “As well as showcasing our members work with the local community, highlighting a range of different photographic styles and subject matter, the exhibition emphasis that photography isn’t solely about having an expensive camera – what’s the well know phrase ‘the best camera is the one you have in your hand’.

“We encourage you to come along, see what’s on display and explore our creative endeavours.”

The exhibition is open between 10am and 4pm.

Club members will be present to provide more information and answer any questions about the photographs or the club.

The exhibition is being run in collaboration with The Little Art Hub.

A club spokesperson said: “The club members would very much like to pass on their appreciation for the opportunity to share their work in this new art space and to Energise Galashiels Trust for their support which made it possible, and to club members for their time taking the images and bringing the exhibition together.”

All visitors to the exhibition can enter a prize draw to win a signed print.
