A 27-YEAR-OLD HGV driver who assaulted his partner after a night-out has been fined £300 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Ruaridh Allan, of Knoll Park, Galashiels, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened in the town’s Melrose Road, on December 26.
He admitted pulling her by the hair, kicking her on the body and punching her to the face.
Selkirk Sheriff Court was told the couple had an argument and his partner sat down on the road.
Depute fiscal India McLean said Allan was trying to get her up when he struck her to the face and kicked her on the body.
Police who arrived on the scene noticed she had redness to her face and Allan was cautioned and charged.
Defence lawyer Ross said his client was “appropriately regretful” adding: “He had been drinking at the time but has stopped drinking.”
In addition to the fine a £20 victim surcharge was imposed.
