A JEDBURGH man has been ordered to pay £1,400 compensation to a farmer after admitting a fraud offence at the town’s sheriff court.
Twenty-two-year-old Scott Briggs, of Howdenburn Court, had pretended to the farmer that he would provide him with machinery for his farm and carry out repairs and induced him to pay him, obtaining the money by fraud.
The offence happened at a farm between February 23 and March 7.
In addition to the compensation order, Briggs was fined £250 with a £20 victim surcharge.
