AN open day at a Berwickshire museum dedicated to a Formula One racing legend proved a roaring success – attracting a record-breaking 345 visitors.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns, Scottish Borders Council’s cultural provider Live Borders opened the attraction for a special family fun day.
It proved to be a massive success, with the venue’s best attendance for a single day achieved – the previous best was 190.
An exciting mix of activities including a brand new race-car simulator, the chance to build a dream car in the Lego area, a tyre changing challenge, and Scalextric racing helped create a fantastic day out for fans of all ages, as well as the opportunity to take in the story of the legend of Jim Clark, and see his racing cars up close.
Kenny Mclean, learning and engagement officer at the attraction said: “The family fun day was a great success and we welcomed more visitors in one day than ever before.
“We were very pleased to welcome visitors from the local area, across the Borders and Lothians, and some international visitors; it is testament to the appeal of the legendary Jim Clark and the quality of attraction we can offer visitors. We look forward to building on this success and welcome more visitors over the next weeks.”
As well as the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum, Live Borders operates a range of exciting museums, galleries and archives across the region, including the Great Tapestry of Scotland, Jedburgh Castle Jail and Hawick Museum.
