ARTISTS working in many mediums helped create a flowing panoramic of the River Tweed at Innerleithen Open Studios’ 12-hour Art-a-Thon.
The artistic equivalent of a marathon last Saturday, designed to raise funds and promote the Open Studios weekend at the end of the month, saw artists join the fun for minutes or in some cases hours at a pop-up shop on the town’s High Street.
A roll of paper, about two feet wide, was laid on a table with twin blue parallel lines representing the Tweed. And as it extended with new artwork it was hooked over a stand.
Up to six artists were able to work on different sections at the same time.
One of the event founders, Sasha Lamb, 18, spent her whole day at the Art-a-Thon and said: “It is not often that I get a whole free day to paint and draw.
“Some people have come for hours and others have just stuck their head through the doors to see what was going on.
“The concept was developed at a planning meeting for Open Studios and someone suggested an Art-a-Thon, it grew from there.
“We were very lucky to have the empty shop unit donated rent free.”
