IT will be last orders forever at a former Borders pub if planners raise a glass to a house conversion bid.
A planning application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council to change the use of the now-closed Plough Inn in Duns to a home.
The watering hole closed on June 20, 2022, after 123 years of trading.
A design statement proposing the end of its days as a licensed premises, from Coldstream-based Ross Architectural Ltd, states: “The site lies in the centre of Duns with the building no longer in use as a public house.
“The building lies within the conservation area of Duns and is of traditional design. To the rear lies a garden space and outbuilding.
“External alterations are minimum and the proposals speak to maintain the conservation area standards. On street parking and nearby parking area remain. It is proposed to use materials that will compliment the area.”
When the pub’s closure was announced the news was met with sadness from regulars who recalled “many happy memories in the ‘Ploo” and others calling it the “end of an era”.
