A 22-YEAR-OLD man has admitted striking another man on the head with a kitchen utensil to his severe injury at a Japanese restaurant in Galashiels.

Jun Jie Chen, who gave an address in the town’s Channel Street, committed the offence at Okome, in High Street, on June 29 – Braw Lads’ Day.

Sentence has been deferred until November 25 at Selkirk Sheriff Court for a personal appearance as Chen is currently in China.
