A BORDERS Railway-inspired tapestry panel has been installed at the Transport Interchange in Galashiels.
The community project has seen more than 2,000 people put in a stitch – including Queen Camilla and Scottish transport secretary Fiona Hyslop.
The panel tells the story of the Borders Railway, from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank, representing stations and tourist attractions along the route.
It was unveiled by this year’s Braw Lad Jamie Bell and 2022’s Braw Lass Abbie Hood on Thursday, September 26.
Judith Cleghorn, of the Borders Railway Community Partnership, said: “We have stitched at schools, community centres, Waverley Station and on several trains, including the Borders Railway and the mainline to York.”
The artwork, which was two years in the making, was designed by Andrew Crummy and the stitching was led by textile artist Susie Finlayson.
A record of every stitcher has been kept.
