Police are appealing for information about a fatal crash on the A7 near Boleside last month.
The incident happened at around 9.40am on September 23 and involved a white Range Rover Evoque, a silver Vauxhall Insignia and a yellow Iveco Daily van.
The driver and passenger of a Vauxhall Insignia, a 74-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman; and the driver of a Range Rover, a 41-year old woman, were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police have confirmed the man died in hospital yesterday.
The women have been released from hospital.
Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends at this very difficult time.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch if you think you can help.
“I would also appeal for anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash-cam footage that could assist to contact us.”
