TWEED Valley Mountain Rescue Team volunteers have been called out to help an injured cyclist at Glentress.
The unit assisted the Scottish Ambulance Service to evacuate the young mountain bike rider yesterday (Wednesday, October 16).
The callout, the Borders team’s third in three days and 66th of the year, happened shortly after 4pm, with the cyclist injured on the 'Turn and Burn' trail.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Our new maps of the forest were once again extremely useful in planning our approach and evacuation routes.
“The casualty was transferred to the waiting ambulance by 5.35pm. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
It marked the first use at Glentress of the team’s new 'Alpha' vehicle that was recently commissioned.
The incident followed two callouts earlier this week.
The first was to the Pentlands to help a walker who had injured their lower leg.
They were evacuated from the hill by the ambulance service’s Special Operations Team.
Moffat Mountain Rescue Team then called the Borders-based group out to help with an injured mountain biker on Tuesday.
