A 67-year-old woman has admitted a charge of careless driving following a crash on the A68 at Leaderfoot.
Anne Vincent was driving from Gordon to Melrose on April 22 when she pulled out into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle, at the junction with the B6360.
Selkirk Sheriff Court was told she hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
Vincent, who gave an address in Basildon, Essex, was originally charged with dangerous driving, but pleaded guilty to the reduced charge shortly before her case was due to go to trial.
Sheriff Ian Anderson noted she had kept a clean licence for 40 years.
He fined her £550 with a £40 Victim Surcharge and added five penalty points to her licence.
