A FOOD shop assistant has admitted stealing £3,000 worth of customers’ cash at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Thirty-seven-year-old Rachel Allison, of Old Town, Peebles, pleaded guilty to forming the fraudulent scheme at The Super Store in the town’s Bridgegate between August 19 last year and January 6.
She pretended to process transactions through the cash till in the normal way and obtained the £3,000 in cash from customers by fraud.
A not guilty plea to a second charge of stealing supplements from the shop was accepted by the Crown. The court was told Allison had an analogous previous conviction.
As a result Sheriff Ian Anderson deferred sentence until November 11 for the production of background reports.
