A PEEBLES-BASED childminder dubbed “the best in the world” has won high praise after a visit from the Care Inspectorate.
Fiona Duncan-Kerr is registered to provide care to a maximum of seven children at any one time up to the age of 16.
A recent Care Inspectorate report described the childminder as “warm, kind, loving and caring” and praised her for “creating a safe and cosy home setting”.
It was found that children’s rights were deeply integrated into the childminder’s approach, creating a “highly supportive environment”.
The childminder’s “aspirational and enabling” attitude was also praised.
The service was deemed ‘excellent’ in three categories – the quality of care, play and learning, its leadership and staff team, and ‘very good’ for its setting.
Service users were also full of praise, the report noting: “They expressed their deep appreciation by saying ‘she’s awesome’ and ‘sometimes I tell her I love her’. Many even called her the ‘best childminder in the world'.”
