A SHORTAGE of staff has been blamed for missed food waste collections in the Borders.
Scheduled pick-ups were not carried out in Selkirk, Hawick and Jedburgh on Tuesday (October 29).
Scottish Borders Council said the disruption impacted Selkirk’s Kingsland Avenue, South Port, Loanside, The Loan, Ladylands Terrace/Drive, Rosebank, Hillview Crescent, Sentry Knowe, Hillside Terrace, Taits Hill and Hill Street.
In Hawick, the Burnfoot area, Ivanhoe Terrace, Chay Blyth Place and Hamilton Road were all missed, according to the local authority.
It said that the whole of Jedburgh had been impacted.
A council spokesperson said: “Residents and trade waste customers are advised to remove their bin from the collection point and represent it on the next scheduled collection day.
“If residents do not have enough space in their food bins, in this instance unfortunately, any excess food waste will have to be placed in the general waste bin.”
Tuesday’s disruption follows issues earlier this week which affected communities in Berwickshire.
