PLANS for new housing in the Borders have been revealed.
Cruden, one of Scotland's 'largest independently-owned' housebuilders and developers, has announced its intention to build 184 homes across three sites in Scotland.
Of these, 128 will be affordable homes and 56 will be sold privately.
In the Borders, Cruden has partnered with SBHA to construct 70 new affordable homes on the site of the former Howdenburn Primary School in Jedburgh.
The 5.57-acre development, designed by Aitken and Turnbull architects, will provide a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom homes.
To enhance the local environment, the site will also feature necessary infrastructure such as roads, footpaths, and a 'sustainable' urban drainage system.
Green open spaces will be preserved within the development.
The venture comes after Cruden's most recent project has begun, constructing 218 new affordable homes at two major Edinburgh developments, Silverlea and Newbyres, for the City of Edinburgh Council and Midlothian Council respectively.
All of these projects have a combined value of £86 million.
Kevin Reid, executive chairman of Cruden, said: "Our continued work with affordable housing providers such as Wheatley Group and SBHA is vital in addressing Scotland’s ongoing housing crisis, ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality, affordable homes within their community."
The remaining 114 homes are to be constructed at the fourth and final phase of the mixed-tenure housing development at King's View in Toryglen, Glasgow.
Mr Reid added: "This announcement also marks a significant milestone as we commence construction of the final phase of our highly successful King’s View development for private sale, which has seen outstanding levels of demand."
