A 50-YEAR-OLD man who admitted a drug dealing charge at Jedburgh Sheriff Court after being caught with almost two kilos of cannabis has avoided jail.
Paul Richardson pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the class B drug following a police search of a property in Eildon Road, Hawick, on January 27.
The court was told the haul, which weighed 1,873 grammes, had an estimated street value of between £7,675 and £18,710.
Richardson, who gave an address in Galashiels, was ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work and given a night time home curfew for the next six months.
Co-accused 51-year-old Andrew Mercer, from Hawick, pleaded guilty to possession of £150 worth of amphetamine and was fined £300 with a £20 victim surcharge.
