PLANS have been revealed for a 42 MW battery storage facility in the Borders.
The scheme, by Green Switch Capital Ltd, will include battery containers, inverters, transformers, substations, and security measures such as fencing, gates, lighting, and CCTV.
The facility is set to be built on land north-east of Sawmill Cottage, Gattonside, and will also feature earthworks and an access track.
This project falls under the "major development" category in Scottish regulations due to its the proposed battery storage capacity, which is over 20 MW.
Community councils in Melrose and District, Galashiels, and Earlston have been informed.
The first public consultation is slated for December 11 at Gattonside Village Hall, followed by a second on January 15, 2025, to consider early feedback.
The public consultation will also include a questionnaire.
Further details are available from Ferguson Planning, the project's representatives.
