GALASHIELS paid tribute to all those who have served our Armed Forces in conflict at a touching weekend ceremony.
Nichola Broatch, chair of Galashiels Town Band, played the Last Post and Reveille beautifully during a special church service on the morning of Remembrance Sunday.
Wreaths were laid down at the War Memorial, including one on behalf of the Braw Lads’ Executive Council by the Braw Lad and Lass for 2024, Jamie Bell and Rebecca Grieve.
People then lined Bank Street to watch the parade, which included the Town Band and the newest group of air cadets from the 2180 (Galashiels) Squadron.
A spokesperson for the squadron urged everyone to “continue to cherish the spirit of remembrance”. They added: “As we stood together in solemn remembrance on Sunday, we honoured the sacrifices of those who have bravely served, keeping in mind the powerful words, ‘At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.’”
