OLDER people living at a care home in Hawick are in safe hands, inspectors have concluded.
Buccleuch Care Centre in Bright Street is registered to provide a care service for up to 51 residents.
Two inspectors with the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to the facility on October 29 and 30.
The care centre consists of two separate buildings. The main office and kitchen within St Margaret’s House and the laundry in Buccleuch House.
Buccleuch House can accommodate 21 people with 30 residents in St Margaret’s.
The inspection found that staff were “warm, caring, respectful and motivated” and that management had good oversight of the home and those living and working there.
People’s health and well-being was monitored well and any concerns identified were referred to professionals in a timely manner.
Two areas of improvement needed were highlighted in recruitment and care planning.
The service, operated by St Phillips Care Limited, received two ratings of ‘very good’ and three of ‘good’.
