Tollerton's selfless act of rescuing a wounded officer under heavy fire, and Laidlaw's morale-boosting bagpipe performance in perilous conditions, showcased how mutual support was vital for survival during the war.
The assembly also highlighted unity on the home front, focusing on figures like Mabel Lethbridge.
Lethbridge worked in hazardous munitions factories, underscoring the collective effort required to sustain the country during the war.
World War II narratives centred on D-Day and Allied collaboration, recounting the largest military invasion in history.
The assembly emphasised the joint effort of 13 countries to liberate Western Europe.
Individual acts of heroism, such as those by American medic Ray Lambert and British soldier Stan Hollis, illustrated the values of compassion, responsibility, and unity during wartime.
Headteacher Kevin Ryalls also contributed with a personal recounting of his family that was affected by the war.
Two members of his family were killed in the conflicts, one in each of the World Wars.
The programme included a two-minute silence to honour those who lost their lives in war, preceded by a poignant poem recitation.
