A GROUP which makes sure Earlston sparkles over Christmas has launched a fundraiser to replace ageing lights.
The Earlston Christmas Lights Community has set a target of £5,000.
The funds will be used to replace old and damaged lights with energy saving options, buy new ornaments and equipment, and “invest in the longevity of Earlston’s Christmas lights”.
In a post on social media, the volunteer group said: “Our goal is to make each Christmas more special than the last and to do this we need to replace our ageing lights.”
This year’s switch on event is due to take place on Sunday, December 8 at 6pm and will mark the 25th year of the event in the town.
A torchlight parade will start at East Green at 5pm to the Green, with torches available at the assembly point for £3.
Jedforest Instrumental Band will be providing the entertainment and Santa will be making an appearance.
