KELSO’S Over-60s Club received more than they bargained for after making a request to fund a Christmas bash.
The club submitted an application to members of Kelso Common Good Fund Sub-Committee on Tuesday, November 19.
The bid was for £300 to cover the costs of a bus trip, a Christmas lunch, entertainment over the year and for the hire of the Ednam House Hotel.
But Common Good Fund members decided to give the club a festive boost after granting £495 instead.
Councillor Simon Mountford said: “They had a net lost for the previous 12 months of £755 and they are only asking for £300 and I wonder if that is enough.”
Members agreed to the additional funding, in part to recognise the hard work of the two volunteers who run the club.
