A NEW banking hub is due to open on Jedburgh’s High Street tomorrow (Wednesday).
The hub will open on 40 High Street at the former Bank of Scotland premises.
The official opening will take place tomorrow between 11am and noon with Charlie Young, president of Jedburgh Callants Club, cutting the ribbon.
The banking hub will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where major bank customers can carry out cash transactions between Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm.
The temporary service which opened in the Hometown Hub earlier in the year is now closed.
There will also be a Community Banker service where customers can speak to their own bank about more complex issues on the day their bank is in the hub.
Community Bankers will be available on the following days:
Monday- TSB
Tuesday- Santander
Wednesday- Bank of Scotland
Thursday- RBS
Friday- No Community Banker
Then opening of the Hub was confirmed by Cash Access UK, an organisation set up to protect the nation's access to cash.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce the opening of our Jedburgh Hub, ensuring crucial access to cash and face-to-face banking services which are vital to both residents and businesses across the community.
“Customers can visit on any day of the week for their everyday banking transactions and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the Hub.”
The opening of the Hub was recommend by LINK following the closure of the town’s last bank branch.
The Jedburgh Hub is the 13th to open in Scotland with 11 more in progress.
