A BORDERS travel company has won a currency exchange bureau award just over a year after starting the service.
Hendersons Travel Agencies who run Henderson Travel in Hawick and Kelso Travel won the Hays Travel foreign exchange member of the year.
Richard Webber, Hendersons Travel managing director said: “We were over the moon to have our efforts with the new currency exchange bureaus recognised.
“There has been a great response in both Hawick and Kelso since we started offering currency, with existing customers who’ve booked their holiday with us and others just in need of some currency coming in to make use of the service.”
The two shops trade as part of Hays Travel began their currency bureau in August last year.
The award was presented at a recent conference in Turkey with senior consultant, Rebecca Jackson collecting the award from the head of Hays Travel, Harriet Thompson.
Harriet Thompson, head of Hays Travel said: “Hendersons Travel’s branches are very new on their foreign exchange journey but have really hit the ground running!
“Their team members have really embraced the additional service they can provide to both their customers and their communities.
“The future of their bureaus is extremely exciting.”
Both shops stock Euros with 50 more currencies available to order and currency buy-back.
Henderson Travel Agencies is a family business managed by Hays Travel, the business is in present form was started in 1968 and Kelso Travel opened in 1982.
