A 47-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court in connection with the discovery of almost £1 million worth of cannabis in the Borders.

Police officers searched premises in an industrial estate on Coldingham Road, Eyemouth, last Thursday and found a large cannabis cultivation with an estimated street value of £900,000.

Adriatik Abazi, of no fixed abode, appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Friday charged with being in connection with the supply of a controlled drug and producing a controlled drug as well as a breach of the Electricity Act.

He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
