BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a man and woman who admitted assaulting a man in Galashiels’ Bank Street.
Forty-three-year-old Shirley Page, of Borthaugh Road, Hawick; and William McConnell, who is 41 and gave an address in Park Avenue, Walkerburn, pleaded guilty to the offence at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
On March 17 they attacked the man by dragging him to the ground, placing fingers in his eyes and repeatedly punching him on the head and body to his injury.
Sheriff John Mundy deferred sentence until January 6 for a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment.
McConnell also pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in Hawick, on December 27, 2022, and repeatedly striking her on the head and body and restraining her to her injury.
Sentence for that offence was also deferred until January 6.
