SEVEN groups from the Borders have been recognised for their efforts to improve their communities.

The groups were celebrated by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful for their work in the It's Your Neighbourhood initiative.

This is part of the charity's Climate and Nature Friendly Communities Network.

The groups were recognised at the annual seminar and celebration event, which took place virtually on December 3.

One of the groups, Green St Boswells, came third in the NatureScot It's Your Neighbourhood Pollinator Friendly Award.

They received £250 to put towards pollinator-friendly activity.

The other Borders groups recognised were: Abundant Borders - Duns community food garden; Abundant Borders - Kelso community gardens; Burnfoot Community Futures; Galashiels Community Garden; Greener Peebles; and Paxton Kitchen Garden.

In total, 195 It's Your Neighbourhood groups across 27 local authority areas were recognised for their efforts to 'improve and protect' their communities.

Juliette Camburn, senior community initiatives officer with Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: "Every year we welcome our fantastic It’s Your Neighbourhood groups and celebrate their remarkable achievements.

"All the groups make such a difference in their areas.

"Their impact is felt and appreciated by all and it’s crucial that they are recognised and thanked for their tireless efforts.

"Congratulations to all our entrants and thank you to the amazing volunteers for all you do to make your community a cleaner, greener and more sustainable place for us all."

The It's Your Neighbourhood initiative is managed in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

The charity is currently looking for sponsors to ensure the network continues to thrive in 2025.
