Vale of Leithen 2
Selkirk 1

VALE of Leithen got back to winning ways on Saturday, after conceding 13 goals in their previous three games.

However the Souters started the brightest but conceded against the run of play in the 27th minute through Keith McLeod.

Mark Samson then scored a wonder goal 11 minutes later to bring Garry O’Connor’s side level, but right on the stroke of half time Stewart popped up to put Vale back in front.

Most of the action took place on the halfway line. Samson and Jay Doyle were both issued with yellow cards for Selkirk along with Vale’s Edwards and Keith Boyes.

Then later the referee was forced to caution McLeod for a hard foul on Samson and Ainslie Hunter for his challenge on Baxter.

But Vale managed to hang on to earn a valuable three points and currently sit sixth in the league.
