BORDERS athlete Scout Adkin returned home at the weekend to claim the Scottish Hill Running title.
The 26-year-old from Peebles, who now lives and trains in the Lake District, returned to the hills above Broughton on Saturday.
Scout, whose younger brother Jacob recently won the European Mountain Running Championships, set a strong pace throughout.
And despite blistering heat and more than 600 metres of climbing on the 9.6km course, she crossed the line 20 seconds clear of Jill Stephen from the Hunter Bog Trotters club.
Fellow Hunter Bog Trotter Miranda Grant was a further two minutes back in third.
Susan Ridley from Peebles produced a strong run to claim the Over 50s women's crown.
The men's Scottish title went to James Dunn.
In a race where the lead changed hands several times, it was the Hunter Bog Trotter who opened up a narrow gap from Shettleston Harrier Robert Simpson approaching the finishing line.
Fellow Shettleston runner Alasdair McLeod was a further 30 seconds back in third.
Lauder's Gavin Bryson, who now runs for Highland Hill Runners, claimed the Under 23s title.
And there was also a gold medal for John Tullie of Teviotdale Harriers in the Over 60s race.
While the junior races weren't quite so far, there was still plenty of climbing involved in the age-group races.
The impressive Isla Paterson from Gala Harriers claimed the Girls Under 15s title..
But fellow Harrier Zico Field had to settle for the silver medal behind East Lothian's Angus Wright in the Boys Under 15s.
It was a similar story for Gala's Elise Field in the Under 11s as she was beaten in the sprint for the line by Sophie McBirnie of Carnethy.
