GALA Boxing Club’s Jack Swaney took part in day one of the Boxing Scotland Elite Golden Gloves Championships.
The event took place at the Ravenscraig Sports facility in Motherwell.
Swaney faced off against Sohaib Anaib (Rob Roy) in his first bout in more than six months at a new 86kg weight class.

And he controlled the contest from the start, outworking his opponent to pick up the win and progress to next week’s semi finals.
He is scheduled to fight David Nelson of the Kingdom Boxing Club on Saturday (March 25).

Coach Steven Ross said: “Swaney had a great bout today to get back in the ring from a long lay-off and show off what he has been working on in the gym.
"He can now look ahead to next week’s semi finals.”
