GALA Fairydean Rovers were knocked out of this year’s South Challenge Cup by Tynecastle at Meggetland last night (Friday Augut 18 2023) after a hard fought encounter which went to extra time.
Russell Cairns opened the scoring for the Edinburgh side in the 15th minute and Mackenzie Scott doubled his sides advantage one minute into the second half.

Jack Beaumont pulled one back for Gala in the 64th minute and Nicky Reid levelled the score in injury time.
Beaumont was shown a red card in the first period of extra time.
And Tynecastle took advantage of the extra man when Ryan Cameron scored a late penalty to put his side into the next round.
Gala are back in action on Tuesday night away to Linlithgow Rose.
